Photo of the Week: A Three Sandwich Day

You know you are in for a great adventure – at least you had better be – when you prepare and pack three sandwiches for your ski pack. This particular sandwich making session was followed by a ski tour that kicked off around dinner time, carried us through the midnight hours and didn’t land us back in camp until breakfast time…with half a sandwich to spare. – Brian

Photo of the Week: Crust Cruising

One of the great things about a little rainfall in the middle of February is that it sometime leads to the formation of a nice supportive crust atop the snowpack. If we’ve got a good base to work with, this can be especially fun, as the crust allows you to go nearly anywhere, and fast, on skis – along creek beds, over fence lines, across fields, through open hardwoods… In these conditions, even a 2 degree pitch in a farmer’s field can get the adrenaline flowing, especially on pair of skate skis. And when a little fresh snow – i.e “dust on crust” – invites us to carefully ski again on the steeper slopes of our higher elevations, the crust down low makes it easy and fun to explore the endless lower angle terrain leading back to our roads and rivers at valley bottom… and thus, enabling some of the longest ski runs of the season. -Brian

Surfing Arctic Norway

We recently stumbled upon this terrific short film about Arctic Norway – produced from a surfer’s perspective. It features some of the same mountain areas that we explored by bicycle and skis this past spring. Whether you enjoy surfing or not, we think you’ll enjoy this! – Brian and Emily

Photo of the Week: Cold, Refreshing Winter

As much as we love the tropical heat and humidity that has settled upon the Northeast this past week, it’s also nice to take a break from it by letting our imaginations run in an image like this… We hope this image cools you down as much as it does for us.
