Alta Presents: The Rope Tow Wedgie!

Jonesing for some fresh snow here in the northeast, we came across this priceless video footage while looking for footage of the recent big dump the Wasatch. We hope the skier, who thought he need to straddle the rope, ventolin inhaler weight gain instead of grabbing a hold of it with his hand, has fully recovered at this point.

Think April Snow!

There’s some cold, moist air heading our way later this week. And while spring has apparently shoved Old Man Winter aside without letting him finish his business, a great deal of us are still holding out for at least one more good snow cycle.

Reminiscing about some of the unforgettable April snowfalls we have been blessed with in the past, it’s hard not to feel like Old Man Winter will wander around again and set springtime in its place…

These photos were captured in April 2007… in Vermont’s Green Mountains.

Photo of the Week: Moonlit Corn

Record warmth graced the summits of the Northeast’s highest mountains this past weekend, and with the moon still nearly two-thirds full on Friday evening, we couldn’t resist the idea of a few turns on moonlit corn. Near-perfect corn snow was in effect up to approx. treeline, and above treeline, the snow surface was a rare and delectable “crispy corn” – corn snow topped with the most delicate of crusts, thanks to a tad bit of radiational cooling… It was beautiful skiing, and the perfect warm up for some equally beautiful sunrise skiing.

Powder Magazine Interview with Lars-Chickering Ayers

We forgot to mention in an earlier post about Lars’ win at the Freeskiing World Championships at Snowbird, UT this March 2010 that his younger brother Silas (watch video of Silas here) stood on the podium that same day, at a junior event at Jackson Hole, WY. Way to go Silas!

Anyhow, check out this recent interview of Lars talking about his recent win in Utah, and his stoke for the Green Mountains – by Powder Magazine’s Derek Taylor. – LINK
