Photo of the Week: The Ski Season Kicks Off – Round 3!

Ahhh, late fall in the northeast… You can cut greens from the garden one day, ski untracked powder the next, and enjoy a good paddle or surf session the next. Although Old Man Winter has been lingering about for several weeks now, he’s apparently in no hurry to ramp things up for the season. And that’s just fine. There’s fertility drugs online no prescription always something fun to do, regardless of how much snow is on the ground, if any. Still, the Old Man seems especially excited this week. And with 2-10″ expected across the north country, it’s time to get back out there. Enjoy the snow in the coming days. – Brian

Giving Thanks

We are thankful at AdventureSkier for our good health and friends and families and our community; for the beauty and magic of the world in which we live; for the simple things that you don’t need to buy; for the warmth of the sun and the freshness of the wind. We are thankful for those defending human rights at home and abroad, for those defending our freedom of speech and our freedom from corporate domination. We are thankful for clean air, clean water, clean snow and clean soils… for those fighting to preserve what’s left of the planet’s precious bio-diversity, wild places and ecological balance…and for the pioneers of a healthier, happier future for all.

And we are thankful for winter storms like the one that dumped up to 16″ of fresh snow (last night and today) over the mountains of the northeast. For many, today was the kick off to another snow-filled winter season. It was great to see so many smiling faces out there.

Here are a few images captured out there today. Thank you Old Man Winter. We hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving with friends, neighbors and families. Thanks. – Brian & Emily

The Old Man Shows up for Turkey! Are You Ready to Ski?

A winter storm warning is now in effect through Wednesday for much of the north country – including the Adirondacks heading east into Maine – and some of the luckiest locales may pick up close to two feet! of snow by the time this storm moves out on Thursday morning. And while our snow forecast doesn’t look quite like it did for Mount Baker, Washington this week (image above) – where nearly eight week of snow, in three days, was forecasted – it’s going to be exciting nonetheless to be hanging out with Old Man Winter again. Wednesday promises to be a great day of skiing across many areas of the northeast, especially where you can find smooth and relatively rock-free terrain to slide on, as well as at any one of the ski areas that will be open in the days ahead.

With the pressure dropping and moisture filling the air this afternoon, we can already smell snow in the air. Let’s hope this storm drops a nice coat of snow for skiers to enjoy across the northeast this weekend, and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, too. – Brian
