As Mother’s Day approaches, it looks like Mother Nature is treating herself to one last glimpse of winter’s beauty in the mountains. It will likely be snowing in the high Adirondacks just a few hours after I write this, and by midnight, it should be snowing steadily up high in the Greens and Whites, too…With enough moisture still streaming over the next 36 hours, fresh tracks in the binding-deep to shin-deep range could reward skiers willing to climb and ski for turns – especially on Thursday afternoon and very early Friday morning. There’s still plenty of coverage up high and out of the sun, and with some sufficiently dense snow on Thursday, even medium to lower angle ski area trails that have already lost most their coverage (at friendly ski areas that allow skinning) could become very fun to ski again Thursday and Friday morning. Snow may have a tough time accumulating below 2500′, so don’t let the rain in the valleys deter you.
The forecast above is valid for the higher elevations of the north central Greens on Tuesday 5/4 evening. Ski you out there.
